![]() The church has choirs for all ages: the Chancel Choir and Bell Choir for adults, the SonLight Singers for high school students, King's Chorus for middle schoolers, the Gospel Gang for upper elementary, the Cherub Choir for lower elementary, and the Angel Choir for kindergarten and pre-school. In June, at the end of the choir's season (in 2007, on June 17th), the church traditionally has a "Music Celebration Sunday". All the choirs in the church gather together and present individual selections as well as united choir anthems, during the morning worship service. Chancel Choir![]() The Chancel Choir is the church's adult choral ensemble and presents anthems and service music during worship services from September through June. Averaging around 30 voices, they rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30. Besides the Sunday morning service they also present two major works each year, usually accompanied by orchestra. The Christmas concert has changed in design over the years, but currently is called the "Family Christmas Music Festival" and is presented on a Sunday afternoon (usually 4 pm) and includes all the choirs in the church. During the Lenten season the choir usually presents a major work with orchestra on Palm Sunday in the morning service. In 2007, the featured work was Brahms "Requiem," which was presented with orchestra and Roger Quadhamer as baritone soloist. The Easter services always include a brass ensemble to herald this regal day of triumph. There is no audition required to sing in the Chancel Choir, but some voice training and music reading skill is common amongst the singers. For more information on joining the Chancel Choir, please contact the director, Allan Petker, 310-548-7260. The schedule for spring 2008 includes the anthems and special music. .
