Pastor Neal's Notes

Pastor Neal

We hear them declaring the works of God in our own tongues!

                                                           Acts 2:11

Wasn't it wonderful to hear the gospel proclaimed in music last Sunday morning? Handel's "Utrecht Jubilate Deo" must be one of the most joyful works of praise ever composed. And wasn't it fun to hear this proclaimed on Pentecost, a day when the church celebrates all the various dialects, accents, and styles in which the gospel has been proclaimed?

This Sunday, you have yet another chance to hear the Word of God afresh. That's because Kathy Sebring, a promising student from Fuller Seminary, will be filling the pulpit in my place. Like so many women and men that God has recently called to ministry, Kathy brings a wealth of experience from the corporate world: first, as a life insurance salesperson; then, as a stockbroker; then, as the Director for Development at the YWCA homeless shelter in Santa Ana. She has also done extensive volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and the First United Presbyterian Church of Long Beach. She enjoys playing golf, watching movies, visiting with friends, and spending time with her parents, who recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

As you listen to Kathy preach, I'll be hearing the Word proclaimed with Kim, Andrew, and Chris in Honolulu. If you need to reach me during the week, our office manager, Shirley Snow will have our contact information in Hawaii. You are also welcome to contact our lay pastor of visitation, Rupert Loyd. We hope you have a truly blessed week.

Aloha!

Neal
