  Don't Miss This Weekend!

Photo of Pastor Neal

This is going to be SUCH a great weekend for those of us here at First Presbyterian Church! I can hardly wait to tell you about it.

This Friday, October 17, several of us will be meeting at Pirate Stadium to cheer San Pedro High School in their annual football contest against the Carson Colts. As I mentioned last week, several members of our church family have worked at San Pedro High for decades, and this gives us a great opportunity to support them. This also gives us a great opportunity to cheer the kids. Those who wish to carpool (and eat at the stadium) should meet here at the church around 5:45 p.m.

On Saturday, October 18, several men from our church will attend a well-organized men's conference in Orange County from 8 to 4 p.m. This conference features a number of nationally known Christian leaders. If you'd like to attend, let Jim Peacock know TODAY (310-833-0615). Next, if you've ever thought about singing with the choir, you can join them on the choir retreat from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the main floor of the church as they prepare a whole variety of fun songs for Christmas. This is a very fun group of people, and they are happy to welcome visitors.

Finally, to crown it all, we'll hold a concert at 4 p.m. featuring our fabulous organist, Johannes Muller-Stosch, and an excellent trumpeter, Robert Frear. This concert is funded in part by the late Stillman Sawyer, who ardently hoped and prayed for the growth of this church. You can answer this prayer if you bring someone with you who does not usually worship in our church.

There's SO much to do and see this weekend. Don't miss it! And don't miss this opportunity to call and invite some friend.

Neal

p.s.  I found out that Kim's mother passed away just a few minutes after completing this article.  Thus, I will not be able to be with you this weekend.  The Inquirer's Class/ Good News Brunch that was planned for Saturday morning will be rescheduled as will be the Baptism for Finley Emma Walter that was to be held Sunday.  All other events will continue as planned.  Even as Kim and I seek God's comfort Kim's time of challenge, we pray you may sense God's joy as you celebrate this weekend together.

Blessings and Peace,

Neal
