"Son Quest"

What a great time we are having this in Vacation Bible School! Our theme this year is the "Son Quest Rain Forest," and several hard-working volunteers have created a number of delightful decorations to help create this theme: waterfalls, trees, monkeys, and a variety of exotic birds. The children have contributed leaves, frogs, butterflies, lizards and even rain forest "sheep" (that's a new one on me). The adults are working hard, as usual, and the teenagers have done a wonderful job of leading our VBS Students in recreation and song. Pastor Eric and I have hosted the opening and closing assemblies, and Sue Headley has made all these various components run like clockwork. Way to go, Sue!

The primary goal of Vacation Bible School is to lead our kids to Christ through stories, songs, recreation, and crafts. And my primary goal this Sunday will be to enhance our love of Christ through the beautiful hymn Paul quotes in Colossians Chapter 1. This is one of the strongest descriptions of Jesus in all of Scripture, because it focuses not only upon the great things that Jesus did while walking upon this earth but also upon His role in creation and in the present day. This is one of my favorite texts in all of Scripture, and it's played a huge role in the development of the Chirstian faith. Just as I had fun leading our children through an imaginary "rain forest" on their quest for Christ, I know I will enjoy leading you to Christ through Colossians Chapter 1.
