"A Time to Move Ahead"

What a joy it was to share worship with you in McDonald Hall last Sunday morning! This was a complicated service, involving communion, slides, choir, praise team, preaching and handbells in a very different type of space. But, working together, virtually every challenge of this space was overcome. In order to make this happen, various teams of volunteers were deployed, and one team or another worked almost every day of last week. The only real problem we had is that we were too full!

Without the handbell tables and the service of communion, this week's worship should be much easier to organize, and we will have plenty of room for extra chairs. We will also need those extra chairs because our Angel and Cherub Choirs are planning to sing. Several of the families who send children to those choirs belong to other churches, and some do not attend a church at all, yet almost all of them bring their children here at least 1 Sunday of the month to sing. Thus, if you see an unfamiliar face (or a semi-familiar face) sitting near you in worship this Sunday, please make a special effort to welcome that individual to our church, because he or she may have made a very special effort to bring an "angel" or "cherub" here.

Since we do expect a good crowd this Sunday morning, you might want to come a bit early to get a good seat, and don't forget to "spring forward" by setting your clock ahead for Daylight Savings Time the night before. By the time you arrive on Sunday, we will have moved the "countdown clock" for Good Friday ahead by 4 hours, and I'll be talking about the things Christ said to comfort his disciples roughly 20 hours before he passed away. This countdown clock will continue to change each week in the season of Lent as we follow our Lord to Calvary this year.

Thanks again to all of you who have helped our congregation move ahead into this new chapter of our church's life. I wish you could have heard all the complements I received about your work. Even some of those who actually dreaded the move into McDonald Hall were surprised and pleased instead. Thus, I appreciate your work, and I feel truly blessed to serve the Lord with you.

Neal
